FREE CREDIT REPAIR ADVICE

Actions To Take Now!

The free credit repair advice on this website is a credit repair guide, to help in restoring a good credit score. There are some actions you can take now to possibly improve your own credit score, such as:

  • Get a Free Credit Report

You are entitled to request and receive one free credit report per year as a result of the Fair Credit Reporting Act of 2003. Each of the credit bureaus are, however, permitted to charge a nominal fee for providing your credit score, usually in the $6.00-$10.00 range.

You can also request a free copy of your credit report if you've been denied employment, credit or insurance. The company that you applied to is required to give you the credit bureau's name, address and phone number. You must request your copy within 60 days of the denial.

    The 3 Credit Bureaus are:

    Equifax
    P.O. Box 741241
    Atlants, GA 30374-0241
    (800) 685-1111

    Experian
    P.O. Box 2104
    Allen, TX 75013-0949
    (888) 397-3742

    Trans Union Corp.
    760 W. Spaulding Rd.
    Springfield, PA 19064-0390
    (800) 888-4213

  • Carefully Review Your Reports

Because the credit bureaus don't verify the information they receive from your creditors, it is very possible and common to find errors. It's important that you get your credit info. Repair your credit by having the credit bureaus fix any errors.

If you discover errors on your credit report, write to each Credit Bureau explaining the inaccuracies and ask that they be removed. Either write a letter of explanation or fill out and return the Dispute Form provided with your report. It is very important that you clear up any errors - the result of having them remain can be extremely costly to you.

If you have any documents to support your position, send copies with your letter or Dispute Form. Remember to make copies of everything for your records.

If there are negative items on your report that are accurate, you can contact a good credit repair specialist at one of the credit repair service companies or a credit report law firm. The only other alternative is to let each item expire from the credit report. The length of time it takes for an item to be removed can be 7 to 10 years, depending on the type of default.
